For us, clean water is nothing special. We turn on the tap and safe drinking water comes out. But that is not the case for 1 billion people in the world. They have no access to drinking water or only unsafe drinking water, despite the importance of clean drinking water.
Vitens and Evides are helping to solve this problem. We are doing this in the most appropriate way for us: by sharing our know-how and experience with local water companies in developing countries based on the 'share rather than give' principle. We do not give money; we make our knowledge and experience of maintenance, treatment and management of drinking water supplies available to the local employees of the water companies in developing countries.
Vitens customers contribute through Water for Life
Vitens and Evides founded the independent Water for Life foundation to enable their customers to contribute to projects in developing countries. Through their water bills, our customers can sponsor specific activities in developing countries.
Specific help
For example, the purchase of materials and resources, such as pipes, conduit and meters to replace the pipeline network, expand product locations and drill new wells. The Water for Life foundation also invests in training local staff in the water companies. Thus, with Water for Life, our customers can continue to improve the local drinking water supply.
Independent management
Water for Life is administered by an independent foundation with its own board. This foundation administers the funds received and ensures that these are well spent.
