Drinking water companies Vitens and Evides organise development aid via a separate organisation: Vitens-Evides International. This special company is focused on improving the management of drinking water companies in developing countries where the drinking water supply is not in order. Vitens-Evides International exports the knowledge and expertise of both of these Dutch water companies to countries where that knowledge is absent or insufficient. The improved management makes the local water companies more attractive to international financial institutions.
Via Water for life, our customer donation fund, Vitens’ and Evides’ customers can contribute to this aid via their water bill. With this money, we can set up small-scale, concrete projects in the countries where Vitens-Evides International is active. In this way, we repair draw-off points, tap new sources and handle the laying of pipelines.
There is also another very important player: the Aqua for All foundation, which regularly doubles the Water for life customer donations with a subsidy from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
